Hekler

Hekler

From smooth jazz to the dastardly dubstep, Hekler (real name Shaun Bacus) is something of a Renaissance man of musical styles. The Las Vegas native left his spot in a full-fledged symphony to assume his place in the heavy dance music domain. And never looked back. Toiling away tirelessly in the studio, Hekler brings a prolific pallet of influences, spanning hip-hop to drum ’n’ bass, to each production. He looks to masters of their craft, like Noisia, G Jones, Lex Luger, and WondaGurl, to propel his robust productions forward. His cornerstone tracks like “Buggaz,” “Basic Bass Tune,” and “404” afford listeners a look at what can happen when bass volatility and expert composition live in explosive harmony. Harrowing bass, bouncy toplines, and genuine artistry all live under one roof in Hekler’s house. Industry support continues to pour in for Hekler, who was recently tapped for his Diplo & Friends debut, alongside collaboration recruits from Ekali, Whipped Cream, G-Rex, and more. With high-profile sightings at EDC, HARD Summer, Bonnaroo, Red Rocks, and an upcoming stop at Belgium’s Rampage Festival—just to name a few—Hekler’s keeping ears perked cross continentally. As he prepares for his most important undertaking yet, his debut LP, Hekler has one lucid, overarching goal: to harness each ounce of artistic background and wisdom at his disposal. Ultimately, to disrupt the current state of bass.
